SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed that PlayStation 4 purchases made via smartphones can download your content remotely, even when your system is turned off. Once downloading is complete, the system will then revert back to a power-save state.
"When you buy a PS4 game on smartphone, it will wake your PS4 up to start downloading the game. PS4 goes back to sleep after that,” Yoshida-san said in response to a Twitter question.
While certainly not groundbreaking, it’s great news for Sony fans. Buying a game while on the run, and then coming home to a complete download is a pleasing feature that will save gamers a bit of time, too.
As announced during the initial console reveal, the PS4 will also offer a similar play-as-you-download feature.
