In an interview with the PlayStation Blog, Sony Worldwide Studio’s President Shuhei Yoshida, has revealed how he feels about the influx of indie games coming to PlayStation 4.
He states:
"The indie movement is so exciting to me. It really reminds me of when we were working on the original PlayStation. Back then, PlayStation really expanded the audience for gaming and brought in a lot of new developers. Lots of unique, interesting games came out of nowhere."
He adds:
"I feel a similar kind of vibe and passion from those indie people today. I’m so excited this time."
Finally when asked what indie titles on the PS4 he was looking forward to the most, Yoshida replied.
" I’m always a huge fan of Octodad…and The Witness."
With a lot of big name titles confirmed for the PS4, it’s great to see Sony state that the smaller indie games are just as exciting and a part of its plan to make the PS4 a success. After all indie games such as Journey and Thomas Was Alone enjoyed great acclaim on the PlayStation 3; so it’s going to be exciting to see what smaller game developers can do with the support of Sony, and the power of the PlayStation 4 to fuel their creativity.
The PlayStation 4 will be released in the US on November 15, and the UK on November 29, 2013. Which indie title for the PlayStation 4 are you most excited about? Leave us a comment and let us know.
