Colin Sebastian, an analyst with Baird, has said his firm expects the PlayStation 4 to be outsold by Xbox One during the launch period for both formats this November.
Speaking with GI.biz (via Forbes) Sebastian gave the slight edge in sales to Microsoft’s next-generation console, though expects both consoles to shift in the region of five – six million units.
“While many forecasts still give an edge to Sony/PS4 in North America sales, we continue to expect similar or even slightly higher sales of Xbox One by the end of the launch window,” he said.
The analyst went on to state that while PS4 and Xbox One are enjoying healthy price margins on Ebay, Microsoft’s machine is weighing in at an average of 60 per cent higher than the RRP. PS4 averages 50 per cent.
PS4 is scheduled to ship in the U.S. on November 15 and in the U.K. and Europe on November 29. Xbox One arrives on November 22.
