Konami has today announced that the first chapter of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released in the form of a prologue, entitled Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. This prologue will be released on current and next-generation titles in spring 2014.
Explaining why there will be a prologue game, developer Hideo Kojima commented: "There will be a significant difference in what Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential. As such, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game will offer."
Kojima-san then added more details about Ground Zeroes stating, "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes charts a rescue mission as users infiltrate a Cuban prison camp, and sets in motion a series of events that culminate in the stunning plot lines of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain."
Konami has confirmed that Ground Zeroes will cost £19.99 for a digital version, and £29.99 for a retail version on the PS3. The PS4 version will cost £29.99, and will be available as a download only. No release details or pricing for The Phantom Pain are currently available.
