The developer behind PlayStation 4 launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall has revealed how far the visuals in its latest FPS have come since the days of Killzone 2 on PS3.
To put it into perspective, Guerrilla Games confirmed that Killzone 2 and 3, which were visual showpieces on Sony’s current-generation machine, packed 8,000 ‘building blocks’ and three ‘level of detail’ steps.
By comparison, PS4’s Shadow Fall takes these figures to a staggering 26,000 and seven, respectively.
Speaking with EuroGamer, Kim van Heest, lead environment artist on Shadow Fall, commented: “For a scene – what we call a section – on the PlayStation 3, we’d have a maximum of 7000-8000 building blocks and now we’re seeing that on PS4 that we’re pushing 26,000 building blocks. We’d have two LOD steps for these elements, now we have seven LOD steps."
Shadow Fall of course has dazzled gamers with its stunning graphics since its unveiling back in February, and PSU.com found it to be one of, if not the, best-looking PS4 titles available at launch. Read our review here.
