Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter has labelled Sony’s PlayStation Now cloud service as “a joke," suggesting the service has no hope of working.
Speaking in the latest issue of Game Informer, Pachter said, “PlayStation Now is a joke. There is no publisher that is going to license content that’s less than two-years old because they would be concerned that they can’t sell as many copies if they make it available for subscription or rental.
“This has no prayer of working. None.”
Sony is currently running a closed beta for PlayStation Now in North America. The service is scheduled to roll out in the U.S. this summer, though Europe won’t see it until 2015.
PlayStation Now allows users to stream classic PlayStation titles to a variety of devices, including tablets, smartphones and Bravia TVs.
