Deep Down delayed, dev wants to ‘fully use PS4 hardware specs’

PlayStation 4-exclusive dungeon crawler Deep Down has been delayed until after summer 2014, the game’s producer has reportedly confirmed.

Speaking during a roundtable interview (via DualShockers), Kazunori Sugiura commented, "About Deep Down, I think we’ll give full fledged information to everyone after the summer, so you may have to wait for a little while beyond the launch [of PS4] on February 22nd.”

Sugiura-san went on to reveal that the added development time will ensure the studio is able to squeeze as much out of PS4 as possible.

“Since we don’t want to risk to be told ‘This could have been done on PS3!’ we want to finish a game that fully uses the PS4 hardware specs.”

Deep Down is a free-to-play action-adventure title that kicks off in New York City in 2094. However, players are able to travel to the distant past by coming into contact with magical artifacts, where they battle creatures in dingy dungeons and hunt for lost treasures.

The game was originally announced at the PlayStation Meeting early last year.
