Assassin’s Creed 5 Comet details leak — report

Details on Ubisoft’s as-yet unannounced Assassin’s Creed Comet – the second title in the historical action-adventure series supposedly due this year – have surfaced on Reddit (via GameRanx).

According to the site, which sources French site GameBlog, Comet is a direct sequel to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and takes place in the year 1758. This is the same year in which Halley’s Comet was predicted to return by the English astronomer, Edmond Halley — hence the game’s title.

The report claims that Comet’s lead character is Shay, a young Englishman who is planning on betraying his former captain, Adewale.

That’s not all, however. There is also a second rumor floating around, telling a slightly different take on Comet. This one originates from a snapshot of a supposed press release from Ubisoft, slated to be rolled out tomorrow.

Here, it describes Comet as a project headed by Jade Raymond, and is in development at numerous studios including Ubisoft Annecy, Bucharest, Kiev, Quebec, Singapore. Studios Solia and Reflects are also involved.

The plot details differ somewhat from the first report, however. Adewale’s grandson Eseosa is labelled the game’s main protagonist, and is in contact with Assassin’s Creed III hero Connor for guidance.

The game is due for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox 360 and Wii U. This ties in with previous reports that Assassin’s Creed: Unity will be the first current generation title, while Comet is mainly targeting previous generation machines.

On a side note, it confirms that Collector’s Editions will be made available for Comet’s release in European territories.

Of course, we should remind you that both reports should be treated as a rumor for the time being.
