Shinji Hashimoto, Corporate Executive of the Square Enix’s 1st Production Department, has refused to rule out an E3 appearance for Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3.
Speaking at the recent Thailand Comic-Con convention (via Gematsu), Hashimoto-san was asked whether or not the hotly anticipated RPGs would put in an appearance at the Los Angeles-based expo.
“We would like to keep it a secret,” he replied. “It just only a few months from now. I’m pretty sure you will be surprised.”
“Actually not only do we have June, but there will be many events from now on such as San Diego Comic-Con, Tokyo Game Show, and others,” he added.
Sadly, Hashimoto-san wasn’t able to divulge any further details on Kingdom Hearts 3 at the event.
“We are sorry. They are secret,” he told one info-hungry fan.
Elsewhere, he also spoke on the recent sale of Sony’s Square Enix stock.
“We didn’t think this would become big news,” he commented. “Back in 2001, Square Enix had financial problems and Sony bought our stocks. Now, the situation is reversed. Since then, we have had good support from our customers for our products, so Square Enix is back on its legs. But Sony has declined.
“The presidents of both companies had negotiation and resulted as everyone knew. We did not have argument. Since Sony once helped us, it was time we helped Sony back.”
Final Fantasy XV is due out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as is Kingdom Hearts 3. A release date for both games has yet to be announced, though in the case of FFXV, recent reports suggest it won’t see the light of day until at least early 2015.
