Destiny: Wrath of the Machine boss guide – how to beat Vosik

For many, Destiny’s raids are among the most challenging, and ultimately rewarding, team-based events in Bungie’s shared-world shooter. Unlike the Crucible and to some extent regular strikes, raids require swift communication and strategy between players to conquer, with teamwork proving as instrumental as raw firepower. Wrath of the Machine, the new raid that comes with Rise of Iron, is no exception to this tradition.

Bungie launched the new raid on Friday, and like the Vault of Glass, Crota’s End, and King’s Fall that came before it, Wrath of the Machine will pit you against a variety of tough boss characters, each one requiring a unique strategy in order to dispatch. Fortunately, to save you the trouble of learning the ropes yourself, we’ve compiled a list of essential Wrath of the Machine tips to defeat each boss, letting you conquer your adversaries with fewer headaches than you’d normally have by going in blind.

Destiny: Wrath of the Machine boss guide

Vosik, the Archpriest (first encounter)

The first boss you’ll get into a ruck with is Vosik, who is located in the first room surrounded by generators. However, you will be unable to penetrate his shield with conventional weapons, so follow the below steps to find out how to defeat him.

Step 1 – Recharge the generators to access SIVA Bombs

You’ll need to collect voltage packs to recharge the generators. These items spawn randomly around the battle zone, and you will have 15 seconds to pick up each one—you’ll need four to charge the generators. Be sure to eliminate Energy Eaters as they will suck up energy from your generator.

Step 2 – Use SIVA Bombs to reduce the boss’s shield

Vosik’s shield can only be damaged by SIVA Bombs, so make sure you throw them at him to reduce it. Note that he will recharge his shields at set damage intervals.

Step 3 – Unload all your firepower at Vosik

Once Vosik shields are down, he will be susceptible to any normal weapon you possess. At this point, you should concentrate all your team’s firepower against him and damage him as much as possible. Once he recharges, you’ll have to repeat the above three steps.

Vosik will retreat after you damage him enough, so follow him.

Vosik, the Archpriest (encounter 2)

The second battle is predictably more difficult than your previous fight. You’ll have to deal with not only Vosik, but also Splicer Captains and a rather dangerous SIVA Destiny Critical attack.

Step 1 – Reduce Vosik’s shield using the SIVA Bombs than spawn from the ceiling

This time around, your opponent has equipped two shields: a regular version, and a red barrier. One SIVA Bomb lobbed at Vosik will eliminate his barrier for a few seconds, with additional bombs damaging his shields. As such, you should aim to bombard him with 3+ SIVA Bombs.

Step 2 – Avoid the SIVA Destiny Critical attack!

This event will transpire after you have damaged Vosik and his shields have recharged, or if you fail to shoot the correct monitor or end up shooting the wrong one. The one you need to blast is the glowing monitor surrounded by red energy; doing so will cancel the attack.

If the attack is able to activate, you’ll need to take cover. Retreat to one of the two small rooms in the back-left & back-right of the battle zone, opposite where Vosik is situated. Shoot the glowing red panel to seal the room up, protecting your team from the SIVA blast.

Step 3 – Keep focusing your attacks

Repeat the process of damaging his shields with the SIVA Bombs and then unload everything you have on him to bring his health down. Remember to avoid the SIVA attack where necessary. You’ll eventually bring him down for good.

Siege Engine

Destiny_Siege_Engine_Image.jpeg

This is where Destiny’s teamwork comes into play more than anything, as the Siege Engine really acts like a large-scale puzzle more than an actual fight. The machine must be disabled, repaired, and then completely destroyed in order to pass by.

Step 1 – Blast the turrets at the Siege Engine’s core

First things first; eliminate the army of Splicers before you target the machine itself. Once you’ve mopped up these pests, aim for the turrets on the left and right of the Engine’s head section. You’ll see a bright orange core open up after you have destroyed the turrets, which you’ll need to shoot until a chunk of the Siege Engine falls off.

Step 2 – All aboard! Ride the Siege Engine

With Step 1 complete, head through the hole that appears in the Siege Engine and get on top of the lumbering machine. Take care not to progress to the upper platforms to avoid taking too much damage. Once you have been taken into the second area, disembark the Siege Engine and dispatch the Splicer Captain on the opposite side of the room.

Step 3 – DIY

Now you’ll need to repair the Siege Engine. Three parts will drop after you defeat the Splicer Captain, though they are very heavy so you’ll need to use teamwork to lug them over to the front of the Siege Engine. You can carry each part for around 15 seconds before your Guardian becomes too knackered to do anymore lifting.

Get all three parts in front of the Siege Engine. Shoot the core on the head’s backside to lower the ramp, allowing you to kill the Splicer Engineer that spawns. Attach all three parts: Drift Shaft, War Head, and Engine Block. Once you have done this, the Siege Engine will topple into the abyss.

SIVA Source

DestinyRiseofIronImage.jpg

This fight centres around three elemental cannons that must be matched with spawning Elemental Servitors. Read on to find out how to conquer the SIVA Source.

Step 1 – Grab the elemental cannons (Void, Shock, and Scorch)

First of all you’ll need to grab the elemental cannons, so kill the Splicer Reaver Vandal, which will spawn three Captains. Dispatch these enemies and then grab the three cannons.

Step 2 – Eliminate Servitors

These foes must be killed by using the correct elemental cannons. So, a Void Servitor can only be destroyed using the Void cannon. You can charge the cannon to kill one of these enemies in a single shot. Be sure to grab the SIVA Bombs that the Servitors drop.

Step 3 – Destroy the SIVA Containment Cores

Your final step on this battle is to eliminate the SIVA Containment Cores, which spawn on SIVA Source platform. Players will face three waves of SIVA Cores, 2, 3 and 5, with 2, 3, and 5 Servitors also appearing in waves. You’ll need one SIVA Bomb to destroy a single SIVA Core. Once all cores are eliminated, the final boss will emerge.

Aksis, Archon Prime

Okay Guardians, this is it! The final boss of Wrath of the Machine. Note that in addition to the boss, you’ll have to battle it out with attacking Level 380 enemies, so this is going to be a tough fight.

Step 1 – Get Empowered

One key element to this fight is to get Empowered. You’ll do this by killing Shanks, with 3 out of 6 Guardians able to achieve this status. This will give you the chance to stun Aksis after removing his shields by jumping onto the glowing area on his back. He’ll teleport up to three times, so keep that in mind.

Step 2 – Elemental cannons vs Elemental Servitors

As with your previous experience in this section, you can acquire SIVA Bombs from Elemental Servitors. Once you are Empowered, you’ll see Elemental Captains starting to spawn, so kill them and nab their Elemental cannons. Next, dispatch the Elemental Servitors with the matching Elemental cannons.

Step 3 – Stun SIVA and remove his shield

First up, you’ll need three SIVA Bombs to take down Aksis’ shield. After this, he will teleport to one of four locations, and you’ll then need to stun him by leaping onto the red glowing spot on his back using an Empowered Guardian. Don’t miss, as his shield will recharge, and you can stun him up to three times.

Step 4 – SIVA Density Critical must be avoided

Again, this is an instant kill for your entire team, so you’ll have to avoid it at all costs. The boss will unleash the attack after his shield is recharged. You can avoid it by retreating to one of the four pillars located outside of the battle zone. However, each pillar will short out after being used to avoid the SIVA attack, so you can’t use them more than once. Keep that in mind. As such, you’ll have four ‘rounds’ to eliminate Aksis.

Congratulations, you beat Wrath of the Machine!
