Pagies (25)
If any specific ability is necessary to obtain a Pagie, that ability will be noted in italics at the beginning of the description, along with the first stage you can purchase/obtain it from abbreviated in brackets. Hivory Towers is HT, Tribalstack Tropics is TT, Glitterglaze Glacier is GG, etc. If the ability you need is a freebie from Hivory Towers, the area in which it is unlocked will be included in the brackets.

Any Pagie (or other collectible) marked with an asterisk (*) can only be obtained in the extended version of the stage.

Unfortunately there is no filing system in-game to show which Pagies you have collected, so my order of collection may be wildly different to what you have done.

P01: Sonar Shot (TT), Lizard Leap (GG) From the stage’s start, turn around and high jump onto the ledge. Continue through to the Crystalline Cave and slide down the hill to the bottom. Follow the path to the left until you see a Pagie in a cagie, with a couple groups of crystals behind it. Watch the small cluster of the crystals blinking on and off, and memorize the pattern in which they blink on. From there use your sonar to reveal the large transparent crystals in back in the same order that the smaller ones blink on, and the cagie will unlock.

P02: Buddy Slam (TT) From P01, continue past the crystals and through the doorway and look right; alternatively, from Trowzer, turn around and follow the path left. These directions take you to the same place: another caged Pagie with a switch next to it. Pound the switch and jump through all the hoops to unlock the cagie.

P03: Buddy Slam (TT), Slurp State (GG) From Trowzer, turn around and head up the large hill ahead of you. Slurp the coal from the fire pit and carry on to the icy path to the right. Along this path there are four more fire pits, all unlit. Slamming down onto one while you’ve got the fire effects of the coal will light it, but if you run out of the firepower you’ll gradually lose health due to the severe cold. If you can light all four (refilling your firepower with each pit), not only with the area become warm enough to safely wander, but you’ll melt an ice block at the top of the path that holds a Pagie within.

P04: Buddy Slam (TT) Continue down the path from P03, past the wasp and eyes, and over the small bridge. To your left you should see a familiar skeleton, who asks you to destroy the nearby igloos. Slam down on all five and you’ll get a Pagie for your trouble.

P05: From Trowzer, jump left into the water and swim that way until you hit a bit of land where you should see Kartos. Play his mini-game and collect 100 gems to earn another Pagie.

P06: Slurp State (GG), Lizard Leap (GG) Just past Kartos (see P05) against the wall is a pile of cannonballs. Slurp one up then head left to the switch. From here you’ll make your way up a path that directs you exactly where to go, with a Pagie in a cagie waiting at the top once you hit the final switch. Just make sure you keep slurping cannonballs as needed, lest you get blown away!

P07: Slurp State (GG) From Trowzer, jump into the water and swim all the way over to the far side. Once you’ve reached the other side (where Dr. Puzz can be found), stay in the water and dive down. On the left side there will be an entryway to the Gloomy Gem Grotto. This is a fairly lengthy and incredibly dark room, lit only by the spores along the way, and yourself when you slurp them up. Slippery slopes that require precision rolling, jumping, and timing (all while trying to keep the area lit up) make this an infuriating maze, but at the end awaits a Pagie worth all the hardship. While you don’t technically need to be able to fly to get to the end, I strongly recommend you hold off until you can. Trust me, you’ll save a lot of time and frustration.

P08: Slurp Shot (TT) From Dr. Puzz, take the path up that leads to Planker (i.e. not the icy slope). Talk to him, and he’ll ask you to sculpt the blocks up above. Roll on up to the blocks, and take the floating platforms to the pillar just beyond. On the far side of it is a slurpable grenade flower. Slurp it up, glide back over to the blocks, and blow them up. Once you’ve finished the Capital B sculpture, talk to Planker again for your Pagie reward.

P09: Lizard Leap (GG) From Dr. Puzz, go to the icy ramp but don’t go up it. Instead go to the right of it, and jump down to an ice island with a green 4-dotted platform in front of it. You should then see a 3-dotted platform floating back and forth ahead of you in the air. When you jump from the 4-dot into the air, the 3-dot will stop moving, so time your jump when the 3-dot is where you want it, and glide onto it. When you land on the 3-dot, a 2-dotted platform will appear ahead of you in similar fashion. Again, time your jump so the 2-dot isn’t in the path of a blowing vent, and float over to it. Finally, the 1-dotted platform will appear; repeat the process and land on it to unlock the cagie just ahead that a Pagie is waiting inside of. If you ever fall into the water, all platforms but number 4 will disappear, and you’ll have to start again, so time those jumps well. This also means that even if you have the ability to fly, you can’t just skip the puzzle by flying straight through; you’ve got to do it legitimately!

P10*: Sonar Shot (TT), Slurp Shot (TT), Slurp State (GG) Enter Icymetric Palace (see notes on Icymetric Palace at the bottom on this page) and take the left path in the first room. Second room, follow the path right and go through the doorway. Third room, follow the path forward past the blowing vents. Fourth room, activate the sleeping totem so activate a shoot-the-targets mini-game. Slurp the ice flower and shoot all targets in time to lower the bridge. Fifth room, slurp the spore to see your surroundings, and jump across to the Pagie in a cagie. It will ask you three questions, and you must get all three correct to unlock the cage. The answers are: 4 (chests in the room), 10 (crates and torches in the room), and 0 (quills in the room).

P11*: Slurp Shot (TT), Slurp State (GG) Enter Icymetric Palace and in the first room go left. Second room, go straight through. Third room, go right. Slurp the ice flower and shoot the ice switch to activate a moving platform. Ride it all the way down to the end, avoiding perils like blowing winds (by slurping cannonballs), fire blocking your way (by using water flower power), and other assorted dangers as you encounter them. At the end a Pagie and a new path await.

P12*: Slurp Shot (TT), Slurp State (GG) From P11, continue down the newly opened path to the right. Pound the switch in the center and go through the hoops in the allotted time to open the door to continue right. You’ll be in a room with one glowing light in the middle of the floor and three paths to take. The correct path is indicated by two glowing lights in the floor, which the incorrect paths take you back to the start (the one-light room). The path to the end is right, right, straight, left, straight. In the final room push the ice block into the light, then turn invisible (unlocked in the hub world around Capital Cashino) and stand in the beam of light coming from the ice block. You can aim a more focused beam through your invisible body over to the cagie, breaking it open and freeing a Pagie.

P13*: Slurp Shot (TT), Buddy Slam (TT) In Icymetric Palace, go right from the first room. Head up the floating platform to the left in room two, then straight over the bridge in room three. Room four is a big race track with a switch at the start. Pound it to activate another timed hoop challenge which takes you around the track multiple times. Completing this challenge reveals a grenade flower. Slurp it up, then blow up the wall to the left of the flower to reveal a door forward. In room five go down to the lower level, then back up on the other side to slurp the water flower, jumping back down to douse the flames below. Slurp the fire flower below to melt the ice block beyond where the flames were, and pound the switch inside the ice block to open the door forward. Head back up to the right and slurp the water flower again to douse the flames on three floating platforms ahead of you. In the next room is Burnie, the palace’s busted heater. He asks you to go inside of him to find what’s making him so cold and take care of it so he can warm the place up again. Agree and head inside to activate the Glitterglaze Glacier boss fight against Brrreeze Blok. Defeat him (just shoot him with firepower until he melts down to nothing, dodging his ice shots as you go) to earn another Pagie at last.

P14*: Inside Burnie (see P13), go through the gate to the right that opens post-boss. Fly across the gap to the Pagie waiting on the other side. You might be able to roll carefully over the rotating cylinders to reach it without the ability to fly, but similar to P07, flying will save you many headaches and a lot of time.

P15*: After beating the boss (see P13), just in front of Burnie you’ll see a heating grate. High jump while standing on it to reach a Pagie up above.

 Yooka-Laylee pagie locations

P16*: After collecting Rextro’s token (see below), play the new arcade game Glaciators to completion once. Rextro will give you a Pagie for trying it out.

P17*: As in Tribalstack Tropics, once you’ve beat this stage’s arcade game, Rextro will challenge you to beat his high score. Do so and he’ll give you a second Pagie.

P18*: Lizard Leap (GG) From the first room of Icymetric Palace, go right. Roll past the spikes and continue right. If you time it perfectly you can high jump carefully over each spiked wall coming at you to reach the Pagie on the other side, but you’re dead with one hit from them and must start again from the beginning. It’s much easier to wait until you can fly, then come back and fly right over them.

P19*: Buddy Slam (TT) From the first room of Icymetric Palace, go left. In room two, go left again. After defeating Brrreeze Blok (P13), you’ll see the vent on the left side is lit and warm. There is a path of blue tiles on the floor that lead from the area where the ice block sits to the vent in the corner. Slam each of those tiles so you may then push the ice block over to the vent, thus thawing it and revealing your Pagie.

P20: Buddy Slam (TT) When standing outside of Icymetric Palace and looking at the entrance, look to the left toward the area with the igloos. On the left-side wall there is a Pagie in a cagie that can only reached by flying. Once you have that ability, fly up and slam the switch to active another hoop challenge. Pass through them all in the time limit to open the cagie and nab the Pagie.

P21: This one’s a lot of work for a single Pagie, so buckle in. There are five snowmen throughout Glitterglaze Glacier who have lost their hats. Their hats are hidden in five piles of snow placed throughout the stage, that must be plowed to reveal the hats. In order to plow the snow piles, you must first find the Mollycool for Dr. Puzz so you can transform into a snow plow. Snow Plow Yooka and Laylee have extremely low traction, which makes for difficult platforming on this icy, snowy stage, and if you accidentally fall into the water any time you’re cruising around as the snow plow, you’ll automatically change back into your normal form, meaning you must then return to Dr. Puzz to transform again and start anew. In short, take things slow and steady as you drive around, and you’ll get there. Without further ado, here are the locations of the five hats and their respective snowmen. Note: I suggest collecting all five hats before delivering them so you don’t have to keep transforming back and forth between forms.

Top Hat: From Dr. Puzz, go right and into the Crystalline Cave. The snow pile is in the main path; you can’t miss it. Use the square button to plow it and collect the Top Hat.

Snowman: In the area with the igloos (P04), past them but before the edge wait the fancy snowman.

Cowboy Hat: From the Top Hat, continue through the cave past the crystals (P01) and through to the next area. Go left near Vendi, and you’ll see the pile with the Cowboy Hat on the left.

Snowman: Also in the igloo area; before them there is a bridge over a stream of water. Dive and follow the underwater path to find the Cowboy snowman.

Witch Hat: From Dr. Puzz, head left through the passageway, then head left again to find the next mound. Plow away and grab the Witch Hat.

Snowman: In the Crystalline Cave near the fire and ice flowers waits the witchy snowman.

Shorts: Just past the Capital B statue (P08) past two floating platforms is the snow mound with the shorts in it. You must drive carefully up that pathway, and onto those platforms to get to the mound. Rather than jumping (because of course you can jump as a snow plow) onto the floating platforms, you’re better off waiting and timing it so that you just drive carefully onto them. There’s a much lower chance of you falling off when you’re doing controlled driving rather than haphazard jumping.

Snowman: Just ahead of the final fire pit (P03) waits the funny snowman who wants the shorts.

yooka laylee guide

Pirate Hat: From Dr. Puzz drive up the large icy slope, but only to the first flat section (you can’t drive much further than that, so you shouldn’t overshoot). Look to the right to see a single moving platform in between you and the final snow mound. Just like with the shorts, drive carefully onto the platform, then make your way across and plow up the Pirate Hat.

Snowman: On a platform in the water just before the puzzle for P09 is the final snowman, waiting patiently for you to bring him his missing Pirate Hat.

P22*: Buddy Slam (TT), Sonar Shot (TT) There are actually two entrances to Icymetric Palace once the world is expanded, the secondary entrance being underwater. From the top entrance, jump down into the water and dive to see the key to open the way through. In the first room from the underwater entrance, head above water and wait for the water level to rise so you can jump on the platform with a switch. Slam the switch to make several sleeping totems appear, then use your sonar to activate them all to open the grate at the bottom. Go through to the next room and obtain the Pagie waiting on dry land.

P23*: Slurp Shot (TT), Buddy Bubble (HT) From P22 (after defeating Brrreeze Blok (P13)), jump from the heated vent and glide up to head to the next room. Break the crate of the right to reveal a grenade flower. Slurp it up and start shooting the walls to reveal 7 doorways. Go through the fourth door (the only passage that actually goes anywhere) and jump in the Tubbz the hot tub. After complaining that he’s broken and has no bubbles, you can help him out by poking your head underwater and tapping R2 twice (to start your Bubble Buddy ability and immediately cancel it), five times. This makes several bubbles in the hot tub, cheering Tubbz up enough that he gifts you the Pagie in a cagie next to him.

P24: Collect all 5 Ghost Writers (see below) to automatically unlock a Pagie.

P25: Collect all 200 Quills on this stage to unlock the final Pagie.

Ghost Writers
Each color of Ghost Writer requires a different tactic to capture them. Here’s the breakdown:

Yellow is the easiest, and can just be nabbed as soon as you find it.

Red will try to attack you, but you can dodge to make it change color. If you successfully dodge and counter-attack two or three times, it’ll turn green and you can capture it.

Green moves quickly, and must be attacked and subdued, but they are much easier to stop than the red ones.

Blue will giggle and laugh at you while blinking in and out of sight, so you must use a sonar ability to make it appear. Once you successfully hit it with your sonar, it’s yours.

Purple requires you to “feed” it by shooting it with an edible projectile such as the white snow flower pellets. Once it has had its fill, you can nab it.

Yellow: Slurp State (GG) From Trowzer turn around and jump up to see a large hill. Run up it and slurp a coal from the fire pit to become impervious to fire. Jump up to the left and safely through the fire “blocking” your way. Slide to the bottom and collect the yellow ghost.

Red: Buddy Slam (TT), Slurp State (GG) You will have passed right by the red ghost while lighting the four fire pits for P03, and with their heat you can now safely take him without worrying about the cold. The usual tactics apply.

Green: Continue up the path from the red ghost and into the next area until you see a small wooden bridge. Just into the water there and swim to the left into a new area. Pop up for some air and you’ll see greenie ahead. It’s hanging out atop some slippery ice, but just try to keep one step ahead of it and you’ll have it in no time.

Blue: You must have the ability to form a bubble and breath underwater. From Trowzer, turn left and jump in the water. Follow the line of small icebergs down the left wall until you see two rectangular platforms sticking out of the water. Dive to the bricked area between them and make your bubble to breath in; you should hear ghostie giggling by now. Standard rules apply: hit it with sonar, then grab it.

Purple: Slurp Shot (TT) This one can be found easily enough, but you can’t feed it unless you’ve got the ability to fly. To find it you go straight past Planker (see P08) and up to the next pillar. On the left side is an alcove with the purple ghost hiding inside. The only flower around that can be used to feed it is the grenade plant (see P08 again), and the only way to get from there to here before it runs out is by flying. Once you can do that, it’s an easy peasy straight shot.

Rextro’s Token*
In Icymetric Palace, go right in the first room. In room two, roll past the lowering spikes to the other side and go left. Follow the path behind Rextro in room three. In room four there are many fake tokens that will damage you, and one true token. The actual token is on the right side, directly in front of the chain that hangs on the wall.

Mollycool
Slurp Shot (TT) From Dr. Puzz there are two paths upward: the icy slope over the water, and the steps that lead straight up, to platforms on tall pillars. Take the steps up, past Planker and up to the next platform. Take the right path to the pile of blocks that Planker wants you to destroy (P08), and jump on the floating platforms past the blocks to the top of another pillar. On the far side of that pillar is an alcove with a slurpable grenade plant. Make your way quickly back the pile of blocks and turn right, and to the far side of that pillar to find a cracked wall. Use the grenades to blow it up, and collect the Mollycool from inside! If you find that you just can’t get there in time before the flower power runs out, come back when you’ve got the power of flight to make this job infinitely easier.

Butterfly Upgrade*
Once you’ve defeated Brrreeze Blok in Icymetric Palace (P13), return to the first room of the palace and find the heated grate in the floor on the left side. Jump and glide up to the platform, then jump across to the Butterfly Upgrade on the other side of the room.

Power Upgrade
Slurp State (GG), Lizard Leap (GG) From the stage’s start, high jump onto the ledge behind you and go through the doorway to the Crystalline Cave. Slurp a cannonball and slide down the right side of the ramp. The upgrade is on a ledge there.

Other Tips and Information
Expanding the World: It costs 5 Pagies to unlock Glitterglaze Glacier, and 5 more to expand it.
Icymetric Palace: Once you’ve extended the world, a large key appears at the door at the peak of the icy ramp near Dr. Puzz. Use the key to unlock Icymetric Palace, which is full of Pagies and other collectibles. The camera in Icymetric Palace is fixed at all times, so there will be simple directions in the appropriate guides such as ‘go right’ or ‘go straight ahead’ since you’ll always have the same viewpoint.
