5 Epic Battles Call of Duty WWII Should Recreate

call of duty world war II battles

People rejoiced when they heard Call of Duty was returning to its roots and becoming a World War II shooter again.Quite right too, as there’s so many unused battles and stories to still be used as season pass extras and story filler. Here’s five of the most important battles Call of Duty hasn’t yet covered from World War II.

The Battle of the Ark of the Covenant

Many historians shy away from this significant turning point in the war. The Nazis felt they needed an edge, as being genetically superior wasn’t enough, so they sought out the fabled lost ark. Surprisingly, it wasn’t a troop of elite Allied soldiers that thwarted this most diabolical plot, but a humble archeologist/adventurer and his whip. Sounds like the kind of adventure you could make into an entire series, let alone a small part of CoD WWII.

The Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Controversy surrounds the heroic tale of U.S. soldier B.J. Blazkowicz. BJ claimed to have single-handedly stormed a Nazi stronghold that featured garish interior decorating, and defeated a mechanized Hitler. When the re-emergence of a clearly fleshy-looking Hitler effectively debunked BJ’s claim, he set off back to the castle to show the world the truth. Somehow, Blazkowicz created an even taller tale this time when he swore blind he’d taken on undead Nazi’s this time.

Blazkowicz cemented his place as history’s greatest liar when he later insisted he had saved the world from a future of Nazi dominance where they had robots. Nobody else recalls any if this happening. Still, it’d make a cracking videogame level.

Operation Mr Ripley

Operation Mr. Ripley is one of the most famous stories from WWII. A ragtag crew went to rescue the talented Mr. Ripley and bring him home. The crew, led by Joe, a man who fought a Volcano in his youth, featured such eclectic character’s as the stunt crazy Dominic Toretto, Chandler’s psychotic roommate, and the permanently confused-looking Ted Danson. Licensing may be an issue here though, as Toretto will likely insist the game features him doing powerslides in a panzer tank.

The Romance of Pearl Harbour

History might remember December 7 1941 as the day that Japan brought the US right into the war with the attack on Pearl Harbour, but a far more important story occurred around this time as Ben Affleck battled with Josh Hartnett to win control of Allied forces greatest weapon, Kate Beckinsale.

Imagine the tense cat and mouse tussle between Batman and the kid from The Faculty (not Elijah Wood) being recreated by Sledgehammer? Glorious isn’t it? You could scrap the war stuff and just have six hours of that.

D-Day (Dalek Day)

Winston Churchill is seen as a great leader, but he wasn’t a stranger to doing reckless things to turn the tide of war towards the Allies. Perhaps his most risky move was bringing in alien mechanized units shaped like the last dildo you’d ever want to put in an orifice. It turned out these ‘war winners’ were actually the alien equivalent of Nazis. Seeing as Churchill didn’t want to be associated with Nazi sex toys from another world, he enlisted the help of a 900-year-old Alien in tweed to get rid of them.

Churchill would redeem himself in the near future, but those dark days should not be so easily forgotten, so this is a shoe-in for Call of Duty’s World War II narrative to handle sensitive subjects with grace. As is traditional with the series that asked you to press button to pay your respects to a fallen comrade.
