IO Interactive has announced that 007 First Light has reached 1.5 million sales globally in just 24 hours, marking an excellent start for the first Jame Bond video game in nearly 15 years.
007 First Light launched for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on May 27, 2026, with plans to release a Nintendo Switch 2 version later in the year. Earlier this week, IO Interactive told Eurogamer that it was looking to keep players invested in the James Bond title with new TacSim content as part of the game’s post-launch plans.
Unlike the movies and previous video games, this latest depiction of the British super spy tells an origins story where we follow a 26-year-old James Bond as he embarks on a mission to secure his 00 status. As a result, the character is far more brash and reckless than the sophisticated, tuxedo-wearing agent that the novels and films would portray. Players will also encounter other iconic characters from the Bond franchise in the game, including Miss Moneypenny, M, and Q.
