007 First Light Won’t Feature The ‘Classy Bond With The Martini,’ But He’ll Learn From Q Along The Way

IO Interactive has revealed that the James Bond depicted in 007 First Light isn’t the traditional martini-sipping classy bloke we’ve become used to all these years, but will nonetheless learn how to become more suave from Q.

Speaking with GameRadar+ during Summer Game Fest 2025, Jonathan Lacaille, Franchise Director for 007 at IO Interactive, revealed that the spy outing will have plenty to say about the relationship between Bond and Q, which of course was featured heavily in the movies. The Bond that we have today is not tuxedo Bond, the classy Bond with the martini and so on. He’s young, he’s not the suit guy yet. But Q is more the classy gentleman with a lot of taste, and he will teach Bond what he should wear, manners, you know, why he needs to wear a nice watch and things like that.

007 First Light will provide an original story on the British super spy that depicts him taking on the mission to acquire his license to kill. Bond will be 26-years-old in 007 First Light, and the game will also feature appearances by M, Q, and Moneypenny, with inspiration for the narrative plucked from Ian Fleming’s novels and short stories for the character. 007 First Light is notable for being the first major video game to feature the character of Jame Bond since 2012’s 007 Legends.
