It takes a lot of dedication to be good at cosplay. First, you have to decide who you want to cosplay, then you need the skill to make the cosplay costume, and finally you have to have the confidence and attitude to pull it off in public.
There’s some that take the art of cosplay much more serious than others, with many becoming quite famous within the cosplay community for their dedication to dressing up as their favourite video game, anime and movie characters.
In this rundown of some of our favourite cosplay costumes we take a look at some of the best outfits, inspired by characters that have appeared on PlayStation consoles over the years. Think you could do better than this?
Kratos – God of War
Kratos from the God of War series is a hulking great beefcake of a man with a distinctive look. We can’t track down the name of this dude, but the attention to detail with his make-up and costume is second-to-none. It helps that he has a bald head too.
Snake – Metal Gear
Cosplayer Rick Boer has one hell of a wardrobe. He recently turned up at E3 dressed as Jacob Frye from Assassin’s Creed, but our favourite picture of this serial cosplayer is when he’s decked out as Naked Snake from the Metal Gear series. There’s even a video of him riding a horse as the Snake. What a dude!
3. Lara Croft – Tomb Raider
Masquerading as serial treasure hunter Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider 2013 video game, Jessie Noochies (not sure if that’s her real name), didn’t take the traditional cosplay route of dressing up as a sexy Lara Croft, with heaving bosoms bursting out of her crop top. Instead, she took her cosplay costume to another level by capturing Lara’s persona of a strong woman who knows how to survive. There’s some more great Lara Croft photos on her blog.
Nathan Drake – Uncharted
Dressed up as Nathan Drake and heading to WonderCon 2015, this cosplayer (known as RebelScumbag on Reddit), nails the smouldering look of Uncharted’s hero. He’s even got that smoky-eyed glare. His hair is black while Drake’s is dark brown, but it’s a fine effort, right down to the exact way Nathan wears his scarf and shows off his belt buckle.
Clicker – The Last Of Us
Deviant Art user HAZENHYTE came up with this incredible costume that nails the horrific look of the Clickers from The Last Of Us. Her costume shows true skill in make-up design. If you saw this on a night out you’d surely run for the hills!

Pyramid Head – Silent Hill
Put together by costume designer CreativeGuy, Pyramid Head is one of the most iconic evil characters in video game history. The people who created this outfit are huge fans of the series and run the Silent Hill Office of Tourism where they build sets and re-enact scenes from the game.
Raiden – Metal Gear
When you take a look at Jeff Siegert’s (AKA Xailas) cosplay costume for Raiden it’s pretty clear that he’s also a talented designer. He’s worked on numerous costume projects, but this creation has stunned fans of the cosplay scene due to the insane level of detail.
Lightning – Final Fantasy
One of the top tips for being a good cosplayer is to choose a character that you also resemble in looks. We’re not sure who this lady is, but she’s certainly got the right look, topped off with a finely-detailed costume that almost makes you believe that the stunning Final Fantasy protagonist has actually just walked in the room.
Helghast – Killzone
These pair of cheeky Helghast cosplayers turned up at E3 2010 to show off their incredible costumes. They didn’t manage to stay in character for the whole of the day, but took a little break to shake their booties to Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies.’
Elizabeth – Bioshock Infinite
This is what cosplayer dreams are made of – Anna ‘Ormeli’ Moleva’s cosplay of Elizabeth from Bioshock was so uncannily accurate (it obviously helps that she looks identical to the video game character) that she was recruited by Irrational Games to be the face of Elizabeth for Bioshock Infinite.
Which one was your favourite costume? Who would you like to dress up as and why?
