Call of Duty fans will be out in force in Los Angeles in September for a Call of Duty XP event that will give attendees the first chance to go hands-on with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer.
Running from September 2-3, the Call of Duty XP event is expected to attract 6,000 gamers who will be able to compete for a share of a one million dollar kitty put aside for a series of tournaments. The event will also play host to a paintball arena and a gallery of real weapons that will feature in Modern Warfare 3, which is set for release on November 8, 2011.

“Call of Duty XP is the ultimate Call of Duty event for fans of all levels. This two-day total Call of Duty immersion is coming to a secure compound in the urban confines of LA on Labor Day weekend where more than 6,000 fans will be the first to witness the world premiere of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer.
Attendees will be among the first to have the opportunity to get hands-on time with multiplayer and Spec Ops. Also on display for the first time will be the full feature set functionality of Call of Duty Elite, the innovative new online service built from the ground up to support Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Supporting this epic reveal is a series of real-world Call of Duty action-experiences and gaming competitions as well as an unprecedented $1 million dollar Call of Duty tournament by Activision and the event’s lead sponsor Microsoft Xbox 360.”
Tickets will cost $150 and will go on sale on July 19. It sounds quite pricey, but all proceeds will be given to Call of Duty Endowment, a charity that helps war veterans get back into civilian life.
