Rumor: Killzone dev’s new IP is an open-world RPG

With the launch of Killzone: Shadow Fall, Guerrilla Games can finally go into full throttle mode with its new IP. What better way to start than by hiring Fallout: New Vegas’ lead writer John Gonzalez?

This can narrow down the options for speculators wondering what exactly the first-party studio’s next project entails. All we’ve known is that it will be something “completely different to Killzone.”

Gonzalez’s LinkedIn profile lists his specializations in “narrative design, dialogue systems, creative writing, documentation, and voice direction.”

And for those of you fumbling over what genre the famed studio is tackling, this may put you at ease: “My focus is storytelling for open world RPGs. Because they’re awesome.”

Yes they are, and Gonzalez’s well-rounded expertise can hopefully guide Guerrilla Games in the right direction, especially considering that storytelling has never been its strong suit.

Does his recent employment confirm that the studio’s next title is indeed an open-world RPG? If not, then in what other ways can they explore Gonzalez’s expertise? Voice your thoughts in the comments section below!
