The Assassin’s Creed series has sold through 73 million units worldwide since its inception in November 2007, Ubisoft has announced.
The French publisher confirmed the figure during a list of unit sales for all of its major video game properties, with Just Dance coming in second with 48 million copies sold, followed by Tom Clancy’s Splinter cell at 30 million.
Assassin’s Creed operates on an annual release schedule and has done so since 2010’s AC: Brotherhood, with multiple studios handling development duties each year.
The next chapter in the historical action-adventure series, Unity, is due for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this fall.
