Sony Computer Entertainment is increasing PlayStation Plus subscriptions significantly in various territories. Joystiq has learned that the service will now cost up to 53 percent more in India, Ukraine, Turkey, Russia and South Africa.
An email was sent out to PlayStation Plus subscribers informing them that the new pricing structure will change within the next 24 hours. In South Africa, prices for three monthly and yearly subscriptions have gone up by the equivalent of 51 percent from R489 to R749 (now $65.55).
Sony stated that there are “currently” no plans to change prices of PS Plus in North America. There has been no comment on Europe. The price hike has been blamed on "various market conditions."
