Fumito Ueda, the creator behind The Last Guardian, has hinted that the project may have jumped ship to the PlayStation 4.
Speaking in the latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation (via Kotaku), Ueda-san revealed that his most memorable title for a Sony format was The Last Guardian, before dropping an interesting update on the game.
"By which I mean all the hardships and the unforeseen amount of time required than what was originally thought," he said.
"Talks with Sony Computer Entertainment on The Last Guardian have been ironed out, and we’re making progress under completely new conditions. I’m also working on some other things that I’ll hopefully be able to show in time if progress is smooth."
Perhaps Ueda-san’s comments on the ambitious title progressing ‘under new conditions’ could mean that the project has been scrapped for PS3 and will now be released for PS4? This has been rumored for some time now, so it wouldn’t at all come as a surprise.
The Last Guardian was officially announced at E3 2009 and was targeted for a holiday 2011 launch, before development troubles set in and cast an air of uncertainty over the project.
