Naughty Dog is fully focused on the development of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and although the studio has been discussing ideas for The Last Of Us 2 has no plans to jump into development while such a major project is on the go.
In an interview with Game Informer, Naughty Dog game director Bruce Straley said that the studio is “110 percent in Uncharted 4 territory now. Blinders on, make this awesome.”
Indeed, it appears that Naughty Dog hasn’t yet given the green light to the sequel of 2013’s best adventure games.
“We have brainstormed sequel ideas for The Last of Us, and we’ve brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on Uncharted 4.”
It makes perfect sense. With two big-budget, high profile games in development at once it’s likely that quality would be compromised, but with focus firmly on Uncharted 4 we can expect a game that stands up to quality of its predecessors.
Earlier this week, we learned that Uncharted 4 will have a more open-world feel than the previous games and that it will offer closure on Nathan Drake’s story. The game is already looking stunning, with pictures of Nathan Drake showcasing the new level of detail and the stunning gameplay demo from the PlayStation Experience showing off some of the new environments and combat techniques.
