The PlayStation 4 version of the last-generation sequel hit Dark Souls II (sub-titled: ‘Scholar of the First Sin’) has been confirmed to run at a silky smooth 60 frames per second and 1080p.
In a fleshed-out update coming courtesy of Sony’s U.S. PlayStation Blog, Senior Social Media Manager Sid Shumen confirmed the specifications before also mentioning the improvements levelled at lighting effects, weapon tweaks and cinematic filters.
Speaking specifically about the updated frame model, Shumen said: ”The increased fluidity [of 60 fps] translates into more responsive movement and combat, a major advantage considering the game’s famously unforgiving difficulty.”
He continued: ”Then there are the gameplay adjustments. You won’t be able to rely on your memory to cakewalk the PS4 game because some enemies and item locations have been changed. Enemies will follow you more tenaciously, even through fog gates — a terrifying, potentially ruinous side effect of PS4’s expanded RAM pool.”
Unfortunately for some, weapons gotten early on such as the Fire Long Sword are apparently a lot less durable this time around, making the game that little bit more taxing for some players undoubtedly.
Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin will also include all the downloadable content previously released for last generation’s iteration, namely Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old Iron King, and Crown of the Ivory King – and is due out this coming April, just after From Software’s other action title, Bloodborne.
