Persona 5 details arrive, main character and setting confirmed

Japan’s Famitsu magazine (via GamePur) has unveiled a heap of new info on the hotly anticipated PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 JRPG, Persona 5.

First up, the lead protagonist has been confirmed as a student in his second year of high school, having moved into the city in the spring. The action takes place in Urban Japan, specifically Shibuya, and our hero has taken up residence in a coffee shop owned by a friend of his parents.

Atlus also clarified a few things regarding the dungeons in the game. The one depicted in the recent gameplay reveal was not randomly generated, though it didn’t rule out this type of content from the game entirely.

Elsewhere, Persona 5 will include a Social Link, which is still in heavy development. More details on this are expected to drop nearer the game’s launch. Battles are still turn-based, while the firearms featured in the title will not be based on real guns.

Finally, the lead hero’s main Persona is named ‘Arsene,’ a possible spin on the famous thief, Arsene Lupin.
