Famitsu has revealed that sales of the Dark Souls franchise have passed the eight million barrier worldwide.
The milestone takes into account sales of four titles: Dark Souls, Dark Souls & Artorias of the Abyss, Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin Edition.
Despite their association with the Souls franchise, sales of Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne, released exclusively on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, respectively, were not counted. Dark Souls has sold over five million copies alone to date.
Meanwhile, Bandai Namco Games recently announced that Dark Souls 2 has sold over 2.5 million units worldwide.
The third entry in the series was announced at E3 2015 and will be released in spring 2016 for PS4, PC and Xbox One platforms. Have a butcher’s at our preview here.
