Game of the Year 2014 contender Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut gets a PS4 release date – and it’s soon

The crowd-funded sequel to what many consider to be one of the most significant touchstones in late ’80s role-playing games, Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut, has been confirmed for a October 13 release on PlayStation 4 in North America.

Having been released last year to startling adulation – with many outlets proclaiming it to be a Game of the Year contender for 2014 – Wasteland 2 took the original’s lauded mechanics and expanded upon them greatly, resulting in a title that’s widely considered to be the definitive love letter to the tactical role-playing games of yonder.

Headlining the improvements made to the Director’s Cut are an extensive visual upgrade, – thanks to a move to the Unity 5 engine – expanded voice acting, perks, quirks, as well as a whole host of balancing tweaks.
