Mafia 3, GTA V comparisons dismissed by Take-Two boss

Speaking during an earnings call overnight, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick dismissed comparisons between Grand Theft Auto V and the upcoming Mafia III.

“Mafia 3 is a completely different experience. I wouldn’t compare it to anything else out there. The reveal [at Gamescom] was great, but it stands alone," said Zelnick.

The executive noted that Rockstar and Mafia III developer Hanger 13 do not share technology, describing 2K and Rockstar as "two distinct labels."

We don’t use any other game in the same sentence as Grand Theft Auto. It is the industry’s standard-bearer. It’s not up for comparison,” he added.

In related news, Take-Two said that it expects Mafia III to ship during fiscal year 2017, meaning the game will be released by April 2016 at the earliest.
