The final list of nominees for the 27th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards has been revealed, and its Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 heading to the show with more nominations than anything else.
Insomniac’s stellar sequel to its 2018 marvel (pun intended) is nominated 9 times, including a nomination for Game Of The Year.
Alan Wake 2 and Baldur’s Gate III rank just behind Spider-Man 2 with 8 and 7 nominations, respectively.
While it’s great to see Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 continue to be part of the conversation when it comes to the best games from 2023, as it should be, awards shows so far don’t indicate it’ll actually win any of its nominations.
How it performs at the D.I.C.E. Awards however will be particularly interesting to watch, considering that these awards are voted on by other game developers, who inherently see games in a different light from players who’ve never made a game at all.
Beyond Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the other PlayStation Studios games to be nominated was Horizon: Call Of The Mountain with two nominations including Immersive Reality Game Of The Year and MLB The Show 23 for Sports Game Of The Year.
