Destiny sales hit 6.3 million during its first month

Destiny sold 6.3 million copies during its first month on sale, according to leaked court documents from Marty O’ Donnell’s lawsuit against developer Bungie (via IGN).

The figure earned publisher Activision $47.5 million in revenue, with the game going on to achieve massive success for the remainder of the year.

Previous details from the court documents revealed that Destiny was originally due for release in September 2013, though story revisions forced a delay.

In addition, the documents also confirmed plans for a series of new Destiny titles through to 2020. In fact, had the original game been released as initially planned, then Destiny 2 would have been released this month.

Destiny: The Taken King is due out on September 15. Among other things, it replaces Peter Dinklage as the voice of Ghost with Nolan North. Who do you prefer? Have a look at this video and make your decision.
