Fallout 4 blamed for drop in PornHub traffic

Bethesda’s critically-acclaimed Fallout 4 been attributed to a significant drop in traffic for the adult website PornHub following the game’s release on Tuesday.

According to a statement issued to GamesBeat, the website saw a 10 percent drop in traffic among gamers on November 10 at around 5.00 am—around the same time users had finished downloading and installing the post-apocalyptic RPG.

"We can’t say we’re too surprised with what happened to our traffic during peak gaming hours,” Corey Price, PornHub’s Vice President, told the site. “Based on the data, it looks like a huge surge of people decided to indulge in some wasteland wandering by taking the day off of work and school to play, while the rest of the world had to wade through what we assume were the longest hours of work ever in anticipation of some alone time with their consoles.”

Still, Price isn’t bitter about Fallout 4 stealing some of PornHub’s thunder:

As huge fans of the game, we can’t say we blame anyone for swapping Pornhub time for some Pip-Boy surfing instead,” he said. “We would have done the same.”

Fallout 4 is out now for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. Despite only launching on Tuesday, the RPG has shipped 12 million copies worldwide to date, with the figure representing around $750 million.  Read our full review of Fallout 4 and be sure to check out 70 things you didn’t know about the post-apocalyptic adventure while you’re at it.
