The PlayStation 4 version of Star Wars Battlefront has proven considerably more popular than its Xbox One and PC counterpart, according to player stats for the DICE-developed sci-fi shooter.
While this isn’t an indication of how well the game sold, it is clear that more gamers are playing Star Wars Battlefront on the PS4 than any other platform. P-stats claims that, during a 24-hour period, a peak of 183,329 gamers were engaged in multiplayer battles on PS4. In the same period, Xbox One managed 104,993 and PC achieved 48,292.
In related news, Star Wars Battlefront also topped the U.K. Charts upon its release there on Friday, enjoying the best launch for any Star Wars video game in the U.K. to date. It’s also the fourth-highest launch of 2015, and beat Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’s week one sales by 117 percent. Fallout 4, however, has slipped to third place behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, with sales dropping by 80 percent week-on-week.
Star Wars Battlefront eschews the single-player campaign seen in previous instalments of the popular franchise, and focuses on large-scale multiplayer battles. Gamers will find themselves taking on the role of a Rebel or Imperial trooper as they battle it out on a number of iconic locations throughout the Star Wars universe, such as Tatooine, Sullust, Endor, and Hoth. In addition, you can also take control of legendary ‘Hero and Villain’ characters from the series, including Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Emperor Palpatine, and Han Solo.
While the game has only just come out, publisher Electronic Arts has already indicated that it aims to produce more entries in the Battlefront series, as well as new Star Wars titles as a result of its deal with Disney. Star Wars Battlefront will receive a number of post-launch expansions as part of its $49.99 Season Pass, with the first major slice of DLC arriving in early 2016. DICE recently shed light on the reason behind the lack of dedicated space battles in Star Wars Battlefront, something which many fans were disappointed over after their popularity in previous games.
