New Shenmue 3 details revealed by Yu Suzuki

Former SEGA developer Yu Suzuki has shared some new details on the upcoming PlayStation 4 and PC action-RPG, Shenmue III.

Speaking in an update on the game’s Kickstarter page, Suzuki-san revealed that the hotly anticipated title will be comprised of 11 chapters that the team conceived some 17 years ago.

Each chapter takes place in a different region, though the Hang-On creator admitted to tweaking the story slightly in order to make it more coherent and flow better.

Most importantly, Suzuki-san and his team have now mapped out just what will be possible with Shenmue III based on the funds obtained from the Kickstarter. He also promised to update fans at least once a month on the game’s status.

With that said, it is possible we may hear something at the Tokyo Game Show later this month.

Shenmue III was unveiled at Sony’s E3 2015 press conference in June via Kickstarter, and went on to become the fastest video game project on the site to hit $1 million. The game would eventually earn $6.3 million

Suzuki-san previously confirmed that development on the game had just started, and that improvements will be made to Ryo’s character model. Interestingly, Shenmue III’s announcement resulted in a significant spike in pre-owned Dreamcast sales.
