PS4 and Xbox One combined sales reach 60 million, says Mad Catz

Speaking during Mad Catz’s Q3 2016 earnings conference call, Chief Financial Officer, David McKeon, has claimed that combined sales of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have now reached 60 million.

How sales are split between PS4 and Xbox One we don’t exactly know, but in January Sony revealed that it had sold almost 36 million consoles. EA then let slip that Sony were outselling Microsoft’s console by 2:1 after revealing in a conference call that global sales of both consoles were in the region of 55 million.

If we take that figure above as fact, and take into account the alleged current ratio between PS4 and Xbox One sales, then PS4 sales could be closer to around the 40 million mark.

Of course, we’re purely speculating as Microsoft has remained tight-lipped about its Xbox One sales figures throughout 2015.

Global sales of the Xbox 360 were reported to have reached 76 million in 2013 as Microsoft’s last-gen console came to the end of its life-cycle, a figure that the Redmond-based company is not likely to replicate or surpass with Xbox One if current speculation rings true.

Evidently, it does seem that Sony is winning this particular console war fairly easily.
