Square Enix’s hotly anticipated Final Fantasy XV will be fully playable at E3 2016 in June, its director has revealed during an interview with Dengeki magazine (via GameSpot).
Hajime Tabata also said that the Japanese game maker doesn’t have any plans to update the newly-launched Platinum demo, which may surprise some fans after its treatment of last year’s Episode Duscae.
In terms of performance, the Platinum demo was not conceived to be a technical showcase for the upcoming JRPG. However, Tabata-san did say that the team will be spending time optimizing the game between now and launch so that it looks and runs as good as possible.
As it stands, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the demo are identical from a technical perspective; however, he couldn’t say if this would be the case for the final version of the game.
Finally, he said that a PC version of Final Fantasy XV is being considered, and that there may be free and paid downloadable content at some point down the line.
Final Fantasy XV is scheduled for a worldwide release on PS4 and Xbox One on September 30, 2016. Those of you looking to splash out on the game can invest in the Ultimate Collector’s Edition, which is limited to just 30,000 copies and can be purchased via the Square Enix store.
Square Enix originally announced Final Fantasy XV at E3 2006 as the PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which was then part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series of games.
However, when the project was around 25 percent complete back in 2012, Square Enix decided to overhaul the title for current-generation consoles, with the title re-emerging at E3 2013 as FFXV.
