Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer has said that the opening sequence to the hotly anticipated Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is among the strongest in the company’s history.
Speaking with PlayStation Espana (via GameSpot), Meyer made it clear that gamers are going to be hooked immediately after soaking up the intro to Nate’s swan song treasure hunting adventure.
"In my personal opinion, this is our strongest beginning, opening sequence for games since the Last of Us, which was obviously very emotional," he said. "But I think this is probably one of the best opening sequences as well. That feeling of wanting to keep playing and wanting to know where it goes continues the entire game."
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is due out exclusively on PlayStation 4 on May 10, 2016. The game is set three years after the events of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and sees Nate reunited with his brother Sam, who was previously thought to have died some 15 years earlier.
Joined once again by mentor Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan, the cocky fortune hunter embarks on a globe-trotting journey to track down a legendary pirates treasure; something which doesn’t sit too well with his long-suffering wife, Elena.
Naughty Dog has attempted to spruce up the Uncharted formula this time around by incorporating large-scale environments, improved stealth mechanics and overhauled AI. Needless to say, Nate’s swan song is among the most anticipated games to hit PS4—even ex-Naughty Dog designer Richard Lemarchand is hyped for the sequel.
