2K has moved to reassure fans that BioShock 2’s elusive multiplayer component won’t put a damper on the single player antics, acknowledging that some fans may be a little “cynical” on the subject of online play.
Speaking to Gameplayer, BioShock 2’s lead level designer Hogarth de la Plante commented: “We recognise that people might be cynical about a multiplayer mode,” adding, “A lot of us are big single player fans also so in no way does it compromise the single-player experience.”
The game’s producer Melissa Miller also chipped in, adding that the decision to include online multiplayer functionality hadn’t been taken “lightly,” though remained tight lipped on any details.
More information on the game’s multiplayer component is expected at E3 in June. BioShock 2 is due out later this year on PlayStation 3 , PC and Xbox 360.
