Gran Turismo Sport to have real-time damage, developers targeting 60fps

Speaking during an interview with Game Watch, Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport will feature real-time damage when it hits PlayStation 4 in November 2016.

Yamauchi-san’s comments come in light of complaints over the lack of car damage in the recent gameplay demo showcased in London last week.

However, he did confirm that dynamic weather effects will not be featured in this latest instalment in the venerable racing simulation franchise. Players can select the type of weather they want to have at the start of a race, but it won’t change as things progress.

Pleasingly, Yamauchi-san revealed that the developers are targeting 1080p/60ps for GT Sport, and is currently working on optimizing the game to prevent any hiccups in the frame rate department.

Gran Turismo Sport will be released on November 15 in the U.S. and November 18 in Europe. Check out the first footage of the game in action here.

Sony originally announced the game back in October 2015, although recently confirmed that the planned beta has been shelved to secure a 2016 release window. Yamauchi-san and his team are hoping to have PlayStation VR support in time for launch day.
