New Death Stranding details confirmed, main character’s name is a ‘secret’

Hideo Kojima has spilled a few new details on his upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive title, Death Stranding.

Speaking with Geoff Keighley’s YouTube E3 2016 live show, the Metal Gear creator revealed that the game will be pretty heavy on action elements, although details on the setting and main character are being kept under wraps.

However, he did touch on the game’s title, which is likened to a mass stranding, when whales and dolphins are stranded on a beach, dead. Kojima-san also said the title refers to something arriving from ‘some world’ and is stranded. It’s all very ambiguous at present, although that’s probably the idea.

Finally, he also revealed that the game is still some way off, although this probably isn’t a surprise considering Kojima-san only established his independent studio late last year .

Death Stranding for PS4 debuts at Sony E3 2016 presser

Death Stranding was unveiled during Sony’s press conference earlier today via a brief teaser trailer, confirming it’ll star The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus. The actor previously collaborated with Kojima-san on the ill-fated Silent Hills.

Reedus’ character finds himself stranded on a beach surrounded by dead wildlife, and its noticeably sporting a large scale on his stomach. Not much else was shown, although it’s certainly piqued our interest.

Death Stranding is in development exclusively for the PS4, and marks Kojima Productions’ first title since breaking away from the shackles of Konami following the completion of Metal Gear Solid V.
