Following the awesome God of War PS4 trailer, which appeared during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference this week, more details about Kratos’ latest adventure have begun to spill out.
Speaking with IGN, God of War creative director Cory Barlog, revealed that players will also be able to “passively control” Kratos’s son throughout the game.
“There’s a single button dedicated to your son, and its use depends on the context,” said Barlog. “He becomes an active participant in combat, traversal, exploration, and puzzle-solving.”
Other interesting snippets of information include:
- No loading screens
- A more in-depth RPG system
- Huge set pieces that Sony Santa Monica want to surprise fans with
- Plenty of collectibles and crafting resources
- Lots of exploration with hidden pathways
God of War also features a new camera perspective from behind the back of Kratos, and other gameplay changes that Sony Santa Monica has yet to announce.
“The main thing we’re doing is we’re reimagining the gameplay, kind of tearing it down, rebuilding it from scratch, and continuing the storyline. We’re carrying the mythology we’ve created with God of War and bringing it into Norse mythology,” confirmed Barlog during a post-conference YouTube interview.
A release date for God of War 4, which will be available exclusively on PS4, has yet to be announced.
