Speaking during its latest financial results, Activision Blizzard announced that Overwatch has now amassed over 15 million players worldwide since its launch in May.
The company said that the figure includes "box and digital sales, internet game room players, and multi-user console households.” However, it wasn’t revealed how the number was split across PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One formats.
Regardless, the figure is a clear indication of Overwatch’s continued popularity following news that the title had notched up an impressive seven million players just nine days after launch.
Developed by World of Warcraft juggernaut Blizzard Entertainment, Overwatch takes the form of a multiplayer shooter where gamers are pitted against each other in teams of six against six.
Players can select from a eclectic group of combatants, each of whom possess a unique number of abilities to wield in battle and are divided into four classes: Offense, Defense, Tank, and Support.
