Metal Gear Solid 5: Definitive outed again for PS4

UPDATE: The Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Edition has been listed for PS4 and Xbox One on Amazon Canada (via Lifelower) and the product pages say the Definitive Edition includes Ground Zeroes and The Phatom Pain.

ORIGINAL: Dell has posted a listing for Metal Gear Solid 5 Definitive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, claiming the as-yet unannounced title will hit stores on October 11, 2016 priced at $49.99.

This is the second time the Metal Gear Solid 5 re-release has been listed, having first popped up earlier this summer on Amazon. However, this particular listing was notable for having ‘Ex’ in the title, too.

The Dell website failed to mention any further details on the product, although it’s not hard to imagine the Definitive release including both Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, plus all available downloadable content and updates.

Ground Zeroes was released back in 2014 and acts as a prequel to The Phantom Pain, depicting Big Boss infiltrating Camp Omega to extract two prisoners; Chico and Paz. The game also features a host of extra side missions to take on once the core mission is completed.

The Phantom Pain picks up nine years later after the legendary mercenary awakens from a coma, where he attempts to rebuild Mother Base and establishes Diamond Dogs in revenge for the destruction of his forces nearly a decade before.

Development of the stealth-action sequel was dogged by internal conflict between creator Hideo Kojima and his bosses at Konami, which culminated in the celebrated game designer leaving the Japanese software after production was complete.

Regardless, The Phantom Pain proved a huge critical and commercial success, shipping six million copies worldwide as of December 31, 2015.
