Sony Interactive Entertainment has started rolling out PSN 2-step verification across select territories, according to various reports that have started popping up online the past 24 hours.
As reported by The Outer Haven, Sony is offering 2-step verification on a limited basis as a test, with the feature currently available in New Zealand and Australia. Additional regions will follow.
For those out of the loop the 2-step verification has been a highly demanded feature by PSN users for the past five years, ever since Sony’s flagship online service was hacked back in spring 2011.
Users are required to provide a mobile telephone number for their PSN account, and anytime a login is detected on either PlayStation 4 or PC, you’ll receive a verification code via SMS.
We’ll be sure to keep you update on Sony’s 2-step verification plans for PSN as soon as we hear more info.
