PS4 Pro TV connection issues: Sony responds

Sony Interactive Entertainment has responded to complaints regarding the PlayStation 4 Pro experiencing TV connectivity issues.

Users flagged up the problems following the launch of Sony’s high-end PS4 console on November 10, which saw PS4 Pro owners getting sound but no picture on their TVs, to having the system not recognising that certain TVs were not HDR/Ultra HD compatible.

PS4 Pro TV issues prompt response from Sony

Following these reports, Sony initially placed the blame on the doorstep of the TVs themselves, while TV manufacturers, unsurprisingly, pointed the finger squarely at the PS4 Pro.

However, Forbes has taken it upon itself to contact Sony directly regarding these issues, generating the following response from the electronics giant. As you can see, it seems to have shifted blame from the TVs to that of PS4 Pro users’ perceived lack of technical know-how:

“We are aware of the reports, but we encourage our users to first check their TV settings, firmware or HDMI to make sure that the TV is capable of supporting both 4K and HDR and that TV and PS4 Pro are connected appropriately.”

PS4 Pro was announced during Sony’s PlayStation Meeting in New York City back in September. The console affords increased resolution allowing for 4K gaming, as well as various other improvements, such as better frame rates and visual effects. Sony has been quick to point out that the system is not designed to kick start a new console generation, and confirm it won’t support exclusive games.
