Guillermo Del Toro has slammed Japanese videogame giant Konami on Twitter, describing its cancellation of Silent Hills as among the ‘most moronic things I’ve ever witnessed’

The Hollywood director pulled no punches in his Twitter outburst (via VideoGamer), proclaiming “F**k Konami” in a series of messages following the latest trailer for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding at the Game Awards yesterday evening.

Del Toro also took the time to congratulate Kojima-san, who he had previously collaborated on Silent Hills alongside The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus, who scooped the Industry Gong at the event.

Well deserved, Kojima-san! Banzai!” he wrote. "Konami cancelling SH after PT is one of the most moronic things I've ever witnessed.”

Silent Hills was designed as a reboot for the popular psychological horror franchise, and was teased via the popular demo known as Playable Teaser. The demo was a huge success nothing millions of downloads, although Konami announced it has shelved the project last year amidst ongoing tensions between the developer and Kojima-san.

Ultimately, this lead to the departure of Kojima-san from Konami late last year, after which he formed his own, independent branch of Kojima Productions and began working on his first project, namely the PS4-exclusive Death Stranding.

The Metal Gear creator will be attending Sony's annual PlayStation Experience this weekend, where he will be hosting a Death Stranding panel and also participate in an autograph session afterwards.
