The president of Capcom has said that the Japanese giant is looking to remake and reimagine a number of classic IPs, sparking hope that we may see a revival of the likes of Dino Crisis and Onimusha.
Onimusha set for comeback on PS4?
Speaking in a recent interview (flagged up by Twitter user, Ishaan Sahdev), Haruhiro Tsujimoto admitted the videogame designer hasn’t made the most of some of its classic franchises, and that it intends to revamp some of them for modern consoles.

Capcom has already dabbled in remasters over the past year or so by polishing up Resident Evil Remake and Resident Evil Zero for PS4 and Xbox One. In addition, the company is also working on a full-fledged remake of 1998’s seminal horror hit, Resident Evil 2. Could we possibly see a Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake? It’s certainly possible.
Is a Dino Crisis remake on the cards?
Still, if there’s any franchise that has been begging for a modern overhaul, it’s Dino Crisis. Released back in 1999, the Shinji Mikami-directed PlayStation classic combined the survival horror elements of Resi while introducing 3D backgrounds and pitting gamers against bloodthirsty dinosaur foes, such as Velociraptors and a formidable T-Rex. The sequel took on a more action-oriented approach and eschewed 3D locations in favor of pre-rendered backdrops, but still retained the essence of the original.
Unfortunately, Capcom saw fit to set the third installment, released exclusively on Xbox back in 2003, hundreds of years into the future and thus ditching the setting and characters that it had previously established in the first two games. The result was a horrendous, buggy monstrosity of a title that ended the series on eye-wincing low note. Let’s just hope the franchise can be revived so it can be given the proper attention it deserves.
Onimusha is another horror-themed title that Capcom hasn’t visited in over a decade now, so there’s a chance we may see the Japanese-themed slasher make a return at some point in the near future for PS4.
