Mass Effect Andromeda update could unleash a new weapon
BioWare has revealed it may add the X5 Ghost weapon from Mass Effect Andromeda cutscenes as a functional weapon in-game.
Currently the weapon, which seems to have attracted some attention from gamers on social media, is only available in cinematics during the sci-fi RPG and cannot be used as a weapon during gameplay. However, speaking on Twitter, Mass Effect Andromeda Lead Designer, Ian Frazier, teased that BioWare may patch the game to make the X5 Ghost available for use.

"It was an early idea that become a prop, but doesn’t exist as a functional gun in the game," said Frazier. "That said, several folks seem interested in it, so we’re investigating the possibility of turning the prop into a usable gun for a future patch."
In addition, fans have also expressed interest in the AAX5 weapon, although BioWare hasn’t yet commented on the possibility of patching this firearm into the game. However, the studio has confirmed that it will discuss its “immediate plans” for Andromeda tomorrow, April 4.
Mass Effect Andromeda was released on PS4, PC, and Xbox One in mid-March, and topped the U.K. All Format Chart at launch. Despite being in development for over five years, garnering much anticipation in the process, the game was met with a lukewarm reception from critics, and faced a lot of negative feedback from gamers regarding its character animations—something which lead to personal attacks on members of the development team. An initial Mass Effect Andromeda update didn’t fix these issues, but Bioware said that it’s looking to address them.
Set 600 years after the events of the original trilogy, this latest entry in the popular sci-fi franchise sees gamers exploring the titular Andromeda galaxy as newcomer Ryder; a pathfinder tasked with finding a new home for humanity. Aside from the single-player campaign, Andromeda also features a dedicated multiplayer mode, which BioWare confirms will receive free post-launch DLC.
