Sony and Polyphony Digital have announced that the hotly anticipated Gran Turismo Sport will equipped with some flashy new Porsche cars, following the brand’s 16-year exclusivity with Electronic Arts came to an end last year.
While that deal prevented non EA-published games from featuring Porsches in the mix, other titles are now free to incorporate the popular vehicles in their lineup, with GT Sport the first of many games to include Porsches. It’s a massive step forward for the franchise, having been the missing jewel in the crown, so to speak.
In addition, Sony also confirmed a slew of new tracks for the upcoming racing simulation title, which you can catch a glimpse of in the below Tweet.

Gran Turismo Sport is scheduled for release exclusively on PS4 in 2017. As reported yesterday on PSU, Sony is looking for new beta testers for the racer as it kicks off the next stage of its pre-launch play tests, with gamers able to sign up to the beta via the game’s official website by completing an application form. If you’re interested in taking GT Sport for a test drive ahead of launch, then fill it out and you might be in luck.
GT Sport may not be a numbered entry in the venerable racing series, but it’s still considered a full-fledged game, featuring a dedicated career mode and other franchise staples including real-time damage. In addition, the game will also support PSVR with VR Tour mode and feature eSports events.
