Ubisoft has released a boatload of Far Cry 5 trailers, confirming the latest entry in the open-world adventure franchise will take place in Montana, United States. Could this mean that Far Cry 5 is indeed the western-flavored romp that we’ve been hearing about?
From what we’ve seen so far, it’s looking very likely. For starters, the dead body in the first video below that’s floating down the river is kitted out in the same clobber that women typically wore during the classic western era , while the brief guitar piece at the end of each trailer certainly has a distinct twang to it. In addition, there also appears to be some sort of cult undercurrent running throughout the teaser, which ties in with previous reports about religious Zealots.
Of particular note is the Church in the third video, which ties in very neatly with reports of a production company filming a western-style trailer for a popular videogame franchise. While initially believed to pertain to Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s looking likely it was actually for Far Cry 5. Note that it doesn’t look like it’ll be an Old West setting, due to the presence of contemporary structures such as power stations in one of the trailers, although much of the scenery in the videos definitely have a classic western feel.
Finally, it’s also been confirmed that we’ll get our first proper look at the much-anticipated sequel this Friday, May 26. For now, feast your eyes on the latest Far Cry 5 videos below.
