Tekken 7 DLC includes return of classic mode and guest characters

Dataminers have unearthed new details regarding the upcoming Tekken 7 DLC, including the return of a fan-favorite game mode and additional guest characters.

First up, the two new characters have some placeholder files in the game, with the first possessing a meter system similar to Akumal and Eliza. This suggests that the character is likely to be another guest star from Street Fighter, although perhaps Namco is reaching beyond Capcom’s fighting series and plucking Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza, who also has a similar meter.

New costumes will be part of the Tekken 7 DLC package, including swimsuits, idol master cosplay, and school uniforms. It’s worth noting that all of these outfits are available in the arcade version of the game already. Elsewhere, it appears Tekken Bowl, the fan-favourite mini-game from Tekken Tag Tournament, will be returning as the $10 extra game mode.

Finally, all of the PS4-exclusive content is still listed within the datamine, suggesting timed-exclusivity or plans to eventually release it as DLC.

Bandai Namco Games has yet to confirm any details regarding the Season Pass content for Tekken 7, although it has said that past Tekken characters will not be made available as paid DLC. So, those of you hoping for Lei Wulong to make a comeback at least won’t have to pay for the privilege.

In terms of a release schedule, the first batch of Tekken 7 DLC will roll out this summer, followed by new content in winter 2017 and spring 2018. The first batch is likely to include the swimsuit costumes and Tekken Bowl mode, while the final two updates will feature the two new characters.

If you’re in the market for a PS4 and are looking to pick up Tekken 7 to boot, then you should probably think about investing in this new bundle.
