PS4 sales in Japan have eclipsed the 5 million mark according to stat-tracker, Media Create.

The new milestone means that Sony has sold more PlayStation 4 consoles in Japan than the PS3 did during the same period since its launch.

Meanwhile, other consoles aren’t fairing well at all in Japan, aside from Nintendo Switch which has already sold 1 million units in its first 17 weeks since launch.

According the latest weekly figures for the week commencing July 17, Xbox one sold just 77 units, Wii U 176 and PlayStation Vita 4,545. In comparison, PS4 sales topped 23,000.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Nintendo Switch was the biggest selling game in Japan last week, followed closely by Tekken 7 for PS4.

According to VGChartz, global sales figures for Sony’s console now stand at over 60 million, double that of Xbox One.

Sony recently revealed that there were over 26.4 million PlayStation Plus subscribers across the globe.
