Gran Turismo 7 is not currently in the pipeline at developer Polyphony Digital, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed.
Speaking with Finder, Yamauchi-san confirmed that the Sony-owned studio is focused on delivering the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport for PS4 beyond anything else right now, plus any downloadable content that arrives post-launch.

When asked if Polyphony Digital will be continuing the Sports brand for the series, or if GT7 is currently being considered, the developer replied:
“Gran Turismo 7 is not currently planned. All our studios are focused on Gran Turismo Sport and, once it is out, the DLC that follows afterwards,” said Yamauchi.
It’s worth remembering that Yamauchi previously described GT Sport as the start of a new era for the venerable racing simulation franchise. “Gran Turismo Sport is something that marks the beginning of a new generation or era,” he said.
During the same interview, Yamauchi said that Gran Turismo Sport could conceivably run at 8K resolution on the PS5, and has said that the game’s car models are so detailed they would feel right at home on Sony’s next console.
Gran Turismo Sport is due out exclusively on PS4 on October 17, 2017. The game was originally due for release in late 2016, but was pushed back nearly a year to afford additional polishing. Sony launched a beta for the game a few months back, allowing users to see first hand how the series’ first PS4 entry is shaping up.
